Author Success Stories

Case studies of book coaching, editing and publishing clients who’ve published their books with our support.

Celebrating our Clients

So many of my clients have brought their work through powerful stages in our collaborations together – whether that be honing and shaping their message, getting a first draft on the page, writing and submitting their proposals, or completing important rounds of editing together.

For most of the folks I work with, the full journey into Authorship is a multi-year adventure (though sometimes less!).

Here are a few of my clients who’ve made it all the way to publication.

Hopefully, from here, you will see that your journey to book publication is so very possible. If they can do it, you can do it too.

(each of these books IS amazing and I highly recommend you consider purchasing them!)

Rebecca Morrison: The Happiness Recipe

Meet Rebecca

Author of The Happiness Recipe:
A Powerful Guide to Living What Matters

Our Editing Work Together

Rebecca Morrison was a JOY to work with. As a lawyer turned happiness coach, Rebecca is as sharp and wise as she is kind and encouraging. Rebecca and I collaborated on her book in the editing phase. I offered all three levels of editing: developmental editing, line editing and proofreading for her book, The Happiness Recipe.

I have to admit, my editing was slowed down by the fact that I would pause and complete all the amazing exercises Rebecca has peppered throughout this amazing read. They are too good not to try, and I benefited so much from her work (major job perk!).

I still think about her work today, years after editing her book.

In addition to editing, I also supported Rebecca in navigating her publishing options. I was thrilled to see her stick with her project and see it all the way to publication.

You can learn more about her work at: www.untanglehappiness.com and on IG @ the.butterfly.society.

Jaime was the perfect editor for my book. As a new author, I really didn’t know what exactly I or my book would need during the editing process. Jaime was a gentle guide. From developmental edit through proofread, she skillfully sculpted my book into something better than I ever could of while still preserving my message and my voice. She was accessible, kind but direct, and thanks to her my book is great! If you are considering working with Jaime to birth your book, don’t hesitate – she will be an amazing partner in your project, just as she was in mine.
— Rebecca Morrison, author of The Happiness Recipe

Books: Lions of Wall Street and Carnivore Trading

Meet the Lions

Authors of Lions of Wall Street and The Carnivore Trading Companion Book

 Our work together

Jay of the Carnivore team contacted me by referral when he was in the middle of his first draft of Lions of Wall Street. As a seasoned professional in the financial field, Jay was taking his first foray into writing books and wisely sought support.

I’ll admit, not being a financial expert, reading his book on first pass was a big learning curve for me (I love getting to learn from my clients!) But my expertise is in content architecture – that is, how to sequence and shape a book so the ideas shine brightest. Upon first edit, I could see how to improve the draft and presented Jay with a pretty direct and bold plan of revision. I held my breath a bit as I awaited his feedback. He and his team absolutely loved my ideas. In fact, Jay’s colleagues told him: Just do whatever Jaime says to do. Ha! We worked hard on the draft over the rest of the editing phase shaping and polishing the draft until it was something the Carnivore team was incredibly proud of.

Jay asked me if I would serve as his project manager for the publication of the book, which I was delighted to do. We worked over the next few months to bring the draft into publication. I offered interior book design services myself. We hired a book cover design team I recommended, and we worked tirelessly to get the book into print. I served as a liaison during calls with IngramSpark while we hashed out their book launch plan. I advised the team on how to market the book. They wanted to get their book published and in their hands in time for their Vegas Christmas party, which we did with devoted work and a dash of luck.

Jay threw me a curve ball in the middle of our steady stride toward publication, saying the team wanted to publish a companion journal at the same time. With my support, we hired an interior designer for this special project, worked with the same amazing book cover designers to keep our design work cohesive, and got the companion journal into the world shortly thereafter.

In all, I delivered a comprehensive support experience for the Carnivore team to get two books into publication from draft to done in under 4 months. It was a wild and highly engaged four months, and I am so proud of all the collaborative efforts it took for us to pull it off! It’s amazing what an assembled team of incredible professionals can do. Shout out to The Book Designers and Becky Bayne for lending their design support skills.

As of this writing, Jay and I are working together on the next book.

You can buy Lions of Wall Street here, their companion trading journal here, and their website here.

I am a first time author with ZERO experience in editing, formatting, or publishing. Jaime was referred to me by an author friend, and I’m eternally grateful.

From the outset, Jaime became 100% invested in my project and coached me from my raw manuscript to a polished, published book.

She is an expert on every aspect of the process required to guide you through to success, and she has the connections to get it done quickly.

Look no further, you have found in Jaime a caring, brilliant partner. She’s a true professional. I will not write another book without having Jaime on my team.
— Jay, Carnivore Trading

Author of Thank God for Depression: Make Depression the Best Thing to Ever Happen to You

Our Editing Work Together

Kyle found me through my friends and fellow authors Scott Schumaker and Tiffanie De Bartolo of Bright Antenna Records. Kyle is a former rock-star-turned-author and one of the funniest humans I know. He came to me with the first draft of his book, Thank God for Depression. We worked together on shaping and discovering the right sequence of his book’s content to best support his incredible messages. I love sending a paper copy of a client’s developmental editing manuscript back to them. And Kyle graciously accepted pages of additional notes and outlines from me with his first draft.

After our first round of editing, he dove bravely into these edits and returned to me with a second draft. We polished up the second draft and he was off and running into self-publishing. He launched a successful Kickstarter, indie published, and has been true to his rock star reference in the ways he’s so solidly shown up as this book’s ambassador and as a bright agent of healing in the world.

It’s been fun to keep in touch with Kyle for short chats, offering my thoughts on his book cover, supporting his Kickstarter, and more. I am grateful for people like Kyle, whom I meet as clients and stay in touch with over the years as friends. Excited to see what Kyle writes next, between music events.

Buy Thank God for Depression here and visit Kyle’s website here.

Working with Jaime was hands-down THE best decision I ever made for my book. My manuscript is exponentially better since Jaime edited it.

Her gifts of clarity, insight, wisdom, & compassion made the editing process a celebration. Her support and encouragement allowed me to fully embrace and deeply step into my gifts as a storyteller and writer.

I would without hesitation recommend her to any author looking for an editor and guide.

I am already excited to write my next book just so I can hire Jaime again.

Meet Darren

Author of Love’s Revolution: A Collection of Poetry and Writings on Sacred Sex, Divine Romance, and Conscious Partnership

Our Work Together

Darren and I began working together in early 2021 on his collection of essays, poems and stories about love and partnership totaling over 100,000 words (the average book is between 50,000 and 75,000, for reference). I offered a developmental edit on this first collection to provide direction on creating greater cohesion and a strong sequencing of all his works together. We also discovered that he had two collections of work here, and that he would plan to publish one now and a second in the near future. We worked together to refine what was included in this first collection and completed a second edit together.

Then Darren hired me as his publishing project manager. In this capacity, I completed the interior design of the book for him, and we used the same brilliant cover designers I love to work with: The Book Designers. I guide Darren through all of the book production steps including completing the remaining elements of his book interior, proofreading the final manuscript, advising on marketing and the endorsement process, creating book cover mock-ups, and publishing the books on Amazon. We published his first collection in early 2023. Stay tuned from much more from Darren in the years to come.

I was so impressed with how Darren applied his profound creative genius to his launch process, creating several incredible videos and webinars featuring his art from Love’s Revolution. As of this writing, Darren is touring the world offering ritual concerts and readings from the book.

You can buy Love’s Revolution here, check out Darren’s videos here, and visit his website here.

What Darren Says About Our Work Together

About Love’s Revolution

In this enthralling collection, Darren Austin Hall, visionary and spiritual teacher, offers a captivating and provocative exploration of the burgeoning realm of sacred sexuality and the revisioning of intimate relationships as pathways of conscious partnership and embodied mysticism.

Through beloved ecstatic poetry, thought-provoking essays, and paradigm-shifting short stories, we are welcomed into a genre Darren calls spiritual-erotica where the ancient truths of sexual alchemical traditions dovetail with modern yearnings for more depth in love, the anguished awakenings of heart-break, and the challenge of sublimating lust into numinous love.

Darren also hones in on healing some of the ancient religious wounds of Christianity and Catholicism, steeped in patriarchal mores and disembodiment complexes, in his retelling of the Garden of Eden story with Eve as heroic tantrika seeking serpent wisdom and a titillating tale of Jesus and Mary Magdalene in a passionate embrace as teachers of sacred sexual arts.

As Darren affirms, we are in the midst of a love and sexuality revolution that has profound foundation-laying potential to usher in a new culture based on the sacredness of pleasure and the healing of our most ancient sufferings.

Meet Edy

Author of Ordinary Woman Extraordinary Life

Our Work Together

Edy had been working on her book for a decade before we met.  She’d had friend-editors review parts of her manuscript for many years.  When we met, we began with a full developmental edit of her book, which was somewhere between an autobiography and a memoir about losing her son to suicide when he was a teenager.

After offering her my initial editorial feedback, Edy told me she’d like to keep working together to receive book coaching revision support as she worked to revise and polish her manuscript.  We worked together for the next several months, moving chapter by chapter as she implemented the edits she wanted to make.  She would send me a chapter prior to each call and I would offer feedback on how her edit implementation was going.

After she completed the next polished draft of her book, Whale Song’s associate editor, Grace, offered a line edit on the manuscript, to bring in a fresh set of eyes on the project.

After that, Edy decided she wanted our help bringing the book through publication. Jaime designed the interior formatting of Edy’s book and we contracted with one of our preferred book cover designers to produce a design Edy loved.

Jaime served as project manager and publishing partner every step of the way.  I am so proud of Edy for seeing this project through.  I know her work will touch many hearts, support those going through tremendous loss, and inspire those who are curious about the spiritual path.  Edy has created a treasure and a legacy for her family and beyond.

You can purchase Edy’s book here.

About Ordinary Woman Extraordinary Life

In her memoir, Ordinary Woman Extraordinary Life, Edy Harrington shares a tender, uplifting, and intimate account of her extraordinary life journey. She invites us into the tragic loss that altered her life forever: the suicide of her son Bobby at age 18. In her profound yearning to understand why, she delves back through her own and her family’s past, looking for anything to make sense of her loss.  In her quest for healing, she delves into grief and hospice work, Attitudinal Healing, meditation, and more.

She discovers herself anew and experiences profound spiritual awakening, showing us a path through heartbreak into the Divine Spirit always available within each of us.

This book is a balm to the hearts of all those who’ve loved and lost, and who seek to find a way through sorrow into an expansive field of everlasting love.

Our Editing Work Together

Tara published her book with Awaken Village Press, an organization with which we’ve had a longstanding relationship.  They contracted Jaime to complete the copy/line edit on Tara’s manuscript.

— TARA DAVIS, AUTHOR OF BECOMING TARA

About Becoming Tara

How do you let go of everything you’ve labeled yourself as, or identified yourself as, to become you?

In a world where a million distractions often overshadow the essence of self, Tara Davis takes readers on an inward journey of awakening. As a dedicated people pleaser, Tara always put everyone’s needs before her own until denying herself was no longer an option.

When Tara decided to step away from her business and explore the uncharted territories of her soul, she uncovered a labyrinth of emotions hidden beneath the surface—shame, guilt, and the haunting echoes of abuse. Instead of turning away from these painful truths, Tara chose to confront them head-on, diving deep into the darkness to unearth her light within.

In this courageous memoir, Tara shares her profound journey of self-discovery and healing. Through the raw and unfiltered exploration of her wounds, she finds a path to reclamation, one that ultimately allows her to step into her true purpose. With vulnerability as her compass, Tara emerged from the shadows, transformed and ready to embrace a life of authenticity and service.

Becoming Tara is a compelling narrative of resilience, reclamation, and the unwavering human spirit. It reminds us that, oftentimes, by confronting our deepest pain and shame, we can discover our greatest purpose and awaken to who we are meant to be.

Meet Jessica

Author of The Widow’s Guide to Dead Bastards

How WeWorked Together

Jessica was a part of the three-month Inner Author group program I facilitated in tandem with Of Earth and Soul in Winter 2022.  She had already finished her manuscript when she was part of the group, but she secured a book deal with a major publisher during our time together in this group– which was a massive celebration.

You can buy the book here.

About The Widow’s Guide to Dead Bastards

If you want to learn how to write a fantastic memoir, study this book.  Seriously.

A widow’s life is turned upside down when she uncovers the truth about her late husband in this lyrical, witty, and deeply moving memoir of tragedy and betrayal.

In the midst of mourning her husband’s sudden death, writer Jessica Waite discovered shocking secrets that undermined everything she thought she knew about the man she’d loved and trusted. From uncovered affairs to drug use and a pornography addiction, Waite was overwhelmed reconciling this devastating information with her new reality as a widowed single mom. Then, to further complicate matters, strange, inexplicable coincidences forced her to consider whether her husband was reaching back from beyond the grave.

With her signature candor and unflinching honesty, Waite details her tumultuous love story and the pain of adjusting to the new normal she built for herself and her son. A riveting, difficult, and surprisingly beautiful story, The Widow’s Guide to Dead Bastards is also a lyrical exploration of grief, mental health, single parenthood, and betrayal that demonstrates that the most moving love stories aren’t perfect—they’re flawed and poignantly real.
